In case people with less melanin are in the sun unprotected for a longer time, it can cause skin cells to become red, painful, and swollen. It is known as sunburn. It can range from mild to blistering.

After a sunburn, your skin also can start to peel. It occurs when your body is trying to get rid of the damaged cells. That does not mean you will peel the skin; let it come off naturally.

How To Treat Sunburn?

Now, you know what sunburn actually is. It is a little newshunttimes different from getting tan. Now, we will look into the remedies that you should try if you get a sunburn.

Remedy 1: Moisturize

It is obvious that you will opt for some initial treatment for your sunburn; after that, you will still need some tender and loving care for a longer period.

As we have mentioned above, you might encounter peeling of skin after a sunburn; in order to prevent that, you need to apply moisturizer on a regular basis. This is the minimum thing you should do for your skin.

There are also some special moisturizers or creams that are really effective in treating sunburn. However, it is always best to opt for dermatologic products rather than all those commercial over-the-counter creams.

Remedy 2: Cool Water

Sunburn is basically inflammation, and we all know the easiest way to treat inflammation, cool down the affected area. So, hop into cool water even when you are outside to help sunburn.

Dipping in and out into the water throughout the day can actually help you in reducing the worsening of sunburn. Here, you need to avoid pools as they contain chlorinated water, which can irritate the skin more.

Remedy 3: Aloe Vera

The gel inside the aloe vera plant has been used for centuries for treating a lot of skin and health conditions. It is believed that aloe vera is the best friend of healthy skin and hair. In treating sunburn, aloe vera is really effective.

Just break off a chunk of the aloe vera plant and directly apply the gel immediately; it will offer a soothing relief. In case you do not have a plant, 100% aloe vera gel will also do the work.

Remedy 4: Baking Soda And Oatmeal

Into a bathtub full of cool water, throw a few tablespoons full of baking soda, and let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes. It really helps in minimizing the sun damage. You also can add a cup of oats in order to soothe irritation and help the skin retain its natural moisturizer.

Never rub your skin into the tub or after coming out. Just dab yourself with a towel but do not rub.

Remedy 5: Chamomile Tea

Can Sunburn Be Treated With Cream?

Yes, absolutely. There are a number of creams that can actually help you in treating sunburn. Whenever you are going out into the sun, always put on sunscreen of at least SPF 30 to 50. Also, reapply it whenever needed.

In case you get a sunburn, apply 100% aloe vera gel to the affected area. It will soothe the skin and also mitigate skin irritation. Moisturizer should always be your best friend, even in the case of sunburn.

Whatever skincare product you are applying to the affected area has to be dermatologically proven. Using just any other commercial creams might worsen the sunburn.
